The Monaco Red Cross Gala: 75 Years of Tradition and Solidarity

Monaco is preparing to celebrate an extraordinary milestone: in a few days, on Friday, July 19th, the 75th edition of the Red Cross Gala will take place. This annual event is a symbol of the union between elegance and philanthropy and has been the highlight of the Monegasque summer for decades.

The Monegasque Red Cross was founded in 1948 by Prince Louis II. Since that same year, the annual Gala has been held to raise funds to support the activities of this humanitarian organization.

The Salle des Étoiles at the Sporting Monte-Carlo, with its retractable roof and views of the Mediterranean, serves as the venue for this event. Each year, international personalities and members of high society gather here, attracted by the prestige of the event and its noble cause.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II, the current President of the Monegasque Red Cross, welcomes guests from around the world, accompanied by his family and continuing a family tradition started by Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace. The royal presence adds a touch of distinction to an already exceptional evening.

The live concert will be performed by Jamiroquai. This funk artist released his first album “Emergency on Planet Earth” in 1993. Since then, he has received seven Top 10 album distinctions in the United Kingdom, a Grammy Award, 26 million albums sold worldwide, and a mention in the Guinness Book of Records as the best-selling funk album of all time. At this edition of the Red Cross Gala, Jamiroquai will be “the star under the stars,” ensuring an exceptional evening.

One of the highlights of the night is the charity auction. For the 75th edition, Maison Hermès has offered an exclusive Kelly bag. In a 32 cm format, it is made of box calf leather in Rouge Piment color with silver accents, making it a unique collector’s item. The winner of the auction will be invited, along with a guest of their choice, to an official table during the prestigious gala. As a special gesture, H.S.H. Prince Albert II will present the bag to the winner on the Sporting de Montecarlo stage.

The evening combines refinement and purpose, offering guests a unique experience while contributing to a humanitarian cause.

Throughout the year, the Monegasque Red Cross carries out a wide range of activities. Its social service helps local residents, while its first aid section is present at all major events in the Principality. The organization also places a strong emphasis on youth, fostering a humanitarian spirit in the younger generations.

In the international area, the Red Cross of Monaco has earned a respected place among the 192 national societies. Its projects range from emergency response to long-term development initiatives, always in collaboration with other Red Cross societies.

The Monaco Red Cross Gala is a social event, and an annual reminder of the fundamental values of the organization: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, volunteerism, unity, and universality. With an optimistic look towards the future. In a world facing increasingly complex challenges, this event is a testament to the power of philanthropy and a platform to make the world a better place.
