24 Hour Relay Race to Benefit Water Safety

Lionheart Team Emerges Victorious, Supporting the Foundation’s Mission

We are proud to have collaborated for the 4th edition of the Calvi to Monaco Water Bike Challenge, hosted by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.

With its return to the Mediterranean Sea, the fourth edition of the Calvi to Monaco Water Bike Challenge was celebrated from September 6th to 7th. This thrilling relay race on water bikes demands both physical and mental endurance, as well as near-perfect organization. Teams composed of elite athletes, celebrities, and Monaco residents pedaled for approximately 24 hours, including through the night, to complete the course from Quai d’Honneur in Calvi’s harbor to the finish line at Larvotto Beach, near the Académie de la Mer.

On September 6th, Princess Charlene and Prince Albert II officially started the race. At 10:30 AM, five teams of national and international athletes departed from Calvi for a grueling 24-hour, 180-kilometer challenge.

The event concluded on Saturday, September 7th, around 9:30 AM at Larvotto Beach. The Lionheart team claimed victory, crossing the finish line at 9:08 AM, followed by Rock to Rock at 9:12 AM, Serenity at 9:15 AM, Ferrari at 9:20 AM, and U17 at 9:36 AM.

After over 22 hours of intense competition, the teams were welcomed by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco at the Rose des Vents.

“The Foundation extends its warmest thanks and congratulations to all participants in this challenge. Your incredible performance, despite the challenging weather conditions, is an inspiration to us all. Thank you for your determination, courage, and team spirit—you have proven that nothing can stop those who believe in themselves. Congratulations!” said the Princess Charlene Foundation.

Beyond the sporting achievement and the unique water bikes, the event promotes the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation’s programs and raises funds. The Foundation’s primary goal is to combat drowning. To this end, it launches campaigns to raise awareness about water safety, teaches preventive measures to children, and provides swimming lessons. The Foundation’s “Learn to Swim” and “Water Safety” programs are implemented worldwide. Additionally, the Foundation fosters sporting values such as discipline, self-respect, respect for others, effort, and teamwork.
